BALMER® with over 180 years of experience in manufacturing precast architectural plaster mouldings is looking to hire an experienced Architectural Sales Representative who is ambitious and self-motivated to continue the growth of our business in the New York Region. This position provides a competitive compensation including base draw against commissions, car and cell phone expense allowance and approved business expenses. The ideal candidate is university or college educated in either architecture or interior design, has a proven track record of successful sales, has a high goal orientation, is energetic, possesses excellent interpersonal skills, aligned with our values and delivers on commitments. Experience in the architecture/design, construction or plastering industry is an asset but not necessary.

Architectural Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales by building a positive relationship with architects, design firms, contractors and builders within the New York Region


  • Regular travel throughout the New York Region to service existing and prospective Architects, interior design firms, contractors and builders.
  • Becoming an expert in Balmer Precast products.
  • Using Balmer experience and expertise to build strong and lasting relationships
  • Identify, track and follow-up on existing, upcoming projects – starting from the design stage and through to the completion of the projects.
  • Reporting within the CRM tool and regular phone calls/follow-ups with senior management.
  • Scheduling regular presentations to increase presence and product knowledge with identified Architects, Design firms, contractors and others.


  • Ability to travel throughout the New York Region on a daily basis
  • 2-5 Years experience within the sales industry
  • Openness to making phone calls with architects, designers for the purpose of setting up presentations and product knowledge seminars
  • Self-motivated and organized
  • Effective decision making and problem solving skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work in evenings and weekends when necessary
  • Architecture/Interior Design Degree/Diploma is preferred but not necessary
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Must learn and follow Balmer’s Customer Relationship Management Tools
  • Strong knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.

Internship Description: The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Intern. This person will gain a thorough understanding of development and the importance of prospect research, as well as related database management, marketing, communication, and research skills. Training is provided for social media platforms, networks, and databases the ICAA currently uses including: Raiser’s Edge,, Constant Contact, Instagram, and Facebook. The Intern is invited (but not required) to attend weekly staff meetings.

Projects and Responsibilities
• Research content for marketing and fundraising efforts
• Work with Development team on the Arthur Ross Awards, the ICAA’s major fundraising
event, and other programs
• Assist with the ICAA’s annual publication the Classicist
• Coordinate mailings related to special events, assist with organizing letters, labels, and mailing lists
• Assist Development Department in managing and updating fundraising database
• Provide general administrative support to department staff as needed

• Knowledge of MS Office and basic Raiser’s Edge or similar database experience is helpful
• Must be organized and have excellent writing skills

Administrative Assistant for the ICAA NY Committee – New York, NY

Contract: Part time, 16-20 hours per week.

Reports To: Associate Director of Education & Special Collections

Salary: $18 per hour

About the ICAA
The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) is the leading nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the classical tradition in architecture, urbanism and their allied arts. It does so though education, publication, and advocacy. The organization is a valued educational resource for students of art, planning, and architecture, design professionals, and the general public, in New York City and its regional chapters. The ICAA offers a wide array of programs that include continuing education courses; professional intensives; travel programs; walking tours; and public lectures. It publishes an academic journal called the Classicist, as well as the book series, the Classical America Series in Art and Architecture.

The New York Committee of the ICAA plans and implements regional programming in the New York metropolitan area, including northern New Jersey, Long Island, and Fairfield County, CT.

The Role
The ICAA seeks a detail-oriented individual to assist in the records management and administration of programming for the NY Committee. The candidate must be well organized and enjoy working with a small, collaborative team. This position is ideal for someone looking for experience in event planning and/or non-profit administration. The position requires working evenings and occasional weekends for events, which will be scheduled in advance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining records in Raisers Edge Database Management (experience preferred but not necessary)
  • Setting up for programs such as classes, fundraising galas, and lectures. Attending programs in order to register attendees, take photographs, and otherwise assist as needed.
  • Greet and socialize with program guests, including at formal events
  • Update the relevant areas of content on the ICAA Website.
  • Work with the ICAA’s marketing staff to develop content and calendar for mass emails and social media.
  • Logistical arrangements including but not limited to: venues, travel, accommodation, and equipment hire. Process related invoices and work with Finance Department to ensure prompt payment to vendors.
  • Attend meetings, record and distribute meeting minutes
  • Record incoming donations related to the NY Committee, draft and send acknowledgment letters, maintain records of donations.

The skills, knowledge and experience required are:

  • Ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively
  • Ability to work independently when needed
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office software, Windows XP, Word, and Excel
